Book End Bookshop

Book End Bookshop, on Bridge Street in Bakewell, is our small second hand book shop run for the benefit of Bakewell & Eyam Community Transport.

The  shop is run by volunteers and all the books are donated by the community.

We have a fantastic team of volunteers who are knowledgeable about books and passionate about supporting BECT and giving our visitors a great experience.

The books on sale cover a wide range of genres - fact and fiction. We have around 1000 books on the shelves at any one time. BUT, our stock is ever changing so we do not have a catalogue.

We are also lucky to have a selection of more unusual, collectable books - The occasional first edition, older and out of print books, both fiction and non fiction. We have some lovely editions of classics such as Dickens and Trollope. These are displayed at the book shop and sold at specialist sales.

Our aim is to support BECT financially and raise awareness of Community Transport and the vital work it does.  Please help us and donate in any way that you feel able to.

Donate Your Books

We are always happy to accept donations of quality books particularly non fiction.

If you have books gathering dust on the shelf please give them a new home with us -  we can pass them on to grateful new owners and benefit users of our Transport Services in the process!!

You can bring the books to the BECT Office at Great Longstone during office hours.

Please call us to to arrange donations 01629 641920.

Bus passengers with small bags of books can also pass them to the driver of their bus.

Please do not donate ex library books as we are unable to accept them.

Donate Your Time

Book End is thriving thanks to all the wonderful donations and our hard working volunteers. We'd like to open 7 days a week during the Summer  so, if you can spare a few hours, especially on a Tuesday or Wednesday, we'd love to hear from you!

If you know of any teenagers in need of occupation and references, do ask them to get in touch - volunteering is good for the C.V.
